I had stripped all the hallways of the 1960's beige carpet. Carpet-less and bare, left the floors prone to scuff damage and they showed wear very quickly. It was decided that replicas of the linseed oil painted canvas 'carpet runners' would protect and return the house close to what was likely laid down for many generations.
I set out to make these:
Approximately 65' in total of straight long runs, that need to turn corners and meet each other perfectly...
Testing different applications of paint and oils.
Just as I had finished the last carpets' first coat, a snow storm hit and temperatures dropped. These proved to be irresistible to rats that had lost access to their usual prey. The carpet with the freshly applied oil took the brunt of the damage...
Mended, and some sections replaced all together, the painting continued in a different, rat free location.
