When large pieces of abandoned machinery get treated like a fine piece of jewellery: Showered with attention... cleared, cleaned, and polished.
No detail left unaddressed.
Ft. McMurray, Alberta
We meticulously cleaned, then treated, the machines that are the industrial giants that helped to carve out the life and community in the historical community of Northern Alberta. Below are a select few...
Atlas Steam Tractor: First look upon this giant steam tractor showed us layers and depths of both ancient bitumen from it's working days in the field, and then fine abrasive silt, deposited when the Athabasca and Clearwater Rivers flooded the Ft.McMurray area.
Northern Alberta Railway: caboose and passenger car. These 2 train cars felt the burden of prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, and all of the elements that accompany. They both were gently stripped to bare by hand... but only after we had carefully copied and documented all of their logos and company signage.
Fairbanks Morris: Generator The first power generating system for Water Wheel, the community that then grew to become Ft. McMurray that we know today....
Fairbanks Morris Turbine: This piece worked in cahoots with the generator shown above... When I came to work on it, it was still choked in the fine silt from the bottom of The Clearwater River.
